7. परीक्षा में कौन-सी गलतियाँ होती हैं? (Exam Trap)

Trap 1: Inflammable = Flammable

"in-" देखकर इसे विलोम न मानें। Inflammable का अर्थ है "आसानी से आग पकड़ने वाला", यानी flammable जैसा। इसका विलोम non-flammable है।

Trap 2: Invaluable ≠ Valueless

Vocabulary के प्रश्न प्रायः पाँच ढाँचों में आते हैं। हर ढाँचे के लिए एक नमूना (स्वयं बनाया गया) प्रश्न:

2. Antonym: "Select the most appropriate antonym of 'Lenient'." (उत्तर: Strict)
3. One Word Substitution: "A place where birds are kept." (उत्तर: Aviary)
4. वाक्य में शब्द: "The old man was frugal in his habits. Select the synonym." (उत्तर: Thrifty)
5. Prefix / Spelling: "Choose the correct antonym of 'relevant'." (उत्तर: Irrelevant) अथवा "Select the correctly spelt word: Ophthalmologist / Opthalmologist / Ophthalmalogist / Opthamologist" (उत्तर: Ophthalmologist)

1. Omni-तिकड़ी: "Science जानता है (Omniscient), Present हर जगह (Omnipresent), Potent शक्तिशाली (Omnipotent)।"

2. Phobia-जोड़ी: "Hydro = पानी (hydrogen, hydroelectric), Acro = शिखर (acrobat ऊँचाई पर), Claustro = बंद (closet)।"

3. Mis/Phil: "Mis = नफ़रत, Phil = प्रेम; anthrop = मनुष्य, gyn = स्त्री।"

4. Prefix का पहला अक्षर: "L के पहले il, R के पहले ir, B-M-P के पहले im": illegal, irregular, impossible।

14. निष्कर्ष: परीक्षा के लिए क्या याद रखें?

Synonym, Antonym और One Word Substitution तीनों का आधार एक ही है: शब्द-मूल की पहचान और मानक जोड़ों का बार-बार दोहराव। omni, phobia, -cide, -logy, -cracy और -ary जैसे मूल याद हों तो अपरिचित शब्द भी हल हो जाते हैं। विलोम में prefix का नियम (il-, ir-, im-) और inflammable, invaluable, infamous जैसे भ्रामक शब्द सबसे अधिक अंक बचाते हैं। 80-80 शब्दों की तालिकाओं को रोज़ एक-एक खंड में दोहराएँ और अंतिम सप्ताह में 45 शब्दों वाली रिवीज़न तालिका पर ध्यान दें।
